At Anchored With Excellence, tutoring goes beyond homework help and test preparation. Our approach blends tutoring, mentoring, and academic coaching within a trauma-informed framework that strengthens skills, increases confidence, and supports students who may need personalized encouragement to thrive in school and beyond.

We support students in grades 3–12 and adult learners, including those referred through schools, districts, courts, and community agencies.

As a Certified Partner Agency with the Mentoring Collaborative of Montgomery County, we understand how academic success is connected to confidence, motivation, and identity. Our approach nurtures all three.

Tutoring services are available both in person and virtually. We work with parents, schools, courts, districts, and individual adult learners to ensure each student receives the individualized support they need to thrive.

Our trauma-informed approach is designed to support learners who may struggle with confidence, anxiety about schoolwork, motivation, or difficulty staying engaged in academic settings. We help students build resilience as they strengthen academic skills.

ASSESSMENT:

Before tutoring begins, each student participates in an assessment so we can determine their needs based on the results. It is important to us to understand the student’s academic areas of strength and need so we can create a tailored plan for support. Assessment results are provided immediately, allowing us to begin strengthening skills and building confidence from the very first session.

FAQ’S

How will you know what your child is doing in our tutoring program?
After each session, notes are shared via Google Docs. This keeps parents and caregivers informed and ensures clear communication about skills addressed, strategies used, and progress made. Parent meetings are scheduled after 4–6 weeks to review progress and clarify next steps.

Will I get to see my student’s work?
Yes. Students who attend in-person sessions receive a portfolio of completed work. Each assignment is reviewed and graded by the tutor. When tutoring concludes, the portfolio is yours to keep.

Do you work on homework?
Yes, but we also focus on the specific academic skills the student needs to become more confident and successful in the classroom. When appropriate, we communicate with teachers to ensure there is alignment between classroom instruction and tutoring support.

How long does tutoring last?
It depends on the learner and their goals. We typically recommend at least 8 weeks to build confidence, strengthen skills, and see meaningful academic growth.

How much does tutoring cost?
We offer free consultations to determine needs and goals. Tutoring fees vary depending on the number of hours and days requested. Hourly and package options are available. Call or email for more information.
